Playboy is more than just a magazine. Now, it is a popular brand that isn’t just known in America but of the whole world. Aside from its trademark of famous photographs of naked women, this American magazine also features entertainment for men like good articles on food, beauty and fashion, beverages

Hugh Hefner started in Playboy together with Marilyn Monroe in 1953.

Some of the Hollywood Stars that became Playboy’s cover girl were Marilyn Monroe (December 1953 issue), Carol Lynley (March 1965 issue), Drew Barrymore (January 1995 issue) and Denise Richards (December 2004 issue) to mention a few.

A major part of the magazine includes the Q & A style wherein notable personalities are interviewed. The most prominent discussion in the magazine’s previous issue was with then-presidential candidate Jimmy Carter in its December 1976 issue.

In its more than fifty years of existence, the magazine has continued to delight its adult readers with substantial contents and playful photos.

But in certain parts of the world, especially in Asia, a lot of countries had prohibited its sale and distribution like in India, mainland China, Myanmar, Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore and Brunei.

Total ban in Muslim countries in Asia and Africa has also been implemented like in Iran, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan.

Other countries had to make their own Playboy magazine so as to conform to the laws and culture of other countries like in Japan and Indonesia where model women have to pose fully clothed or has to cover their genital part.

The best-selling issue of Playboy, according to Wikepedia, was its November 1972 edition. This was also the year wherein one-quarter of all American college men were buying the magazine every month.

Wikepedia has meticulously listed the men and women who appeared in Playboy from the year 2000 up to the present. Its list include cover models like Jodi Ann Paterson, Carmen Electra, Pamela Anderson, Belinda Carlisle, Katie Price, Tia Carere, Paris Hilton, Anna Nicole Smith and its latest model in June 2008, Cindy Margolis, an American glamour spokes model and actress.
